| SNT wins in Las Vegas -
Systems & Network
Training Ltd [7-10-2005] As leading edge providers of network training, SNT were commissioned by Integration, (formally CompXs,) to provide a lab based workshop on ZigBee wireless product development methods. The service was delivered to the ZigBee development conference held in Las Vegas on the 4th October 2005. SNT's proven track record in wireless technology such as 802.11 and 802.15.4 made us the "natural choice" training supplier to present at the ZigBee conference. The workshop was delivered to some 50 delegates, in two groups, by Felix Jackson (Training Consultant of SNT). The professional instructor led training approach, enabled delegates to build home automation applications, conforming to the new low power, low size and low cost wireless ZigBee specifications. Integration's ZigBee/802.15.4 integrated Glaramara development kit was used, together with a C++ programming interface, to run multiple home lighting applications in the same radio sphere of influence, without any interference. A simple 802.15.4 USB dongle was also used, with Integration's PC based ZigBee DLL, to demonstrate standards based wireless lighting control. Integration's templates and libraries are such that all delegates were able to build both applications, well within the 4-hour workshop. The ZigBee traffic was also analyzed "in the air" to see the commands used between devices, in the home automation applications. Of all the many presentations delivered over the two-day conference, the conference delegates ranked our workshop joint first. A dollar may have been lost in the slots, but once again SNT has shown that complex and sophisticated technologies can be explained and understood, to enable personnel to build the systems of the future.
