The Cisco certifications are used as a benchmark in the networking industry. Certifications are awarded to those that pass the relevant exams.

Associate
The foundation level certifications are the CCNA and CCDA. 10 days of training is recommended as the minimum to attain this level of certification. Of course you can always take a boot camp if you just want the certification instead of really learning your stuff.
Associate concentrations
A further 5 days of training is recommended to obtain a CCNA specialisation.
Professional
The amount of training depends on the specialisation, however as an indicator 20 days training is recommended to obtain the CCNP certification
Expert
The pinnacle of Cisco certifications. A hands on exam which truly tests those aiming for this certification. 800 hours hands on preparation work with Cisco devices is recommended for this certification.
