 |
How much are the exams?
Exams are free when taken with the training courses.
Exams can be taken without the courses at a cost of £75 plus VAT.
Where can I take the exams?
Exams are taken at Robert Denholm House, Bletchingley Road, Nutfield, Surrey, RH1 4HW.
What are the exam codes?
The exam codes are LAIT Ie, LAIT IIe, LAIT IIIe.
How many questions are there in the exams?
LAIT Ie 40 questions
LAIT IIe 60 questions
LAIT IIIe 60 questions
How much time is allowed for the questions?
LAIT Ie 90 minutes
LAIT IIe 120 minutes
LAIT IIIe 120 minutes
What is the minimum pass mark?
70% per exam.
What format are the exams?
Multiple choice. There are two main types of question:
a)Circle the best answer
b)Circle all that apply.
In the latter case it is up to the examinee to determine the correct number of answers (2 or more)
It should also be noted that the exams are marked by hand which allows examinees to write extra comments (if they feel it necessary) to justify answers where they feel there may be some ambiguity. These comments are taken into account when the exams are marked.
Why should I take the LINX exams?
The LINX exams test competency in key skill areas determined by the LINX membership over a 12 month period. The exams do not test product knowledge but focus on the key concepts behind the technologies. The certifications assure a certain knowledge level easing the initial job applicant screening process for employers whilst examinees receive a recognised proof of their achievements.
How do the LINX certifications compare with other certifications?
Exams are technology based rather than product based. The pre requisites for the courses are probably the best gauge to the comparative levels of exam. See the LAIT courses FAQ for details.
LAIT Ie is comparable to CCNA but LAIT Ie does not test product knowledge. network+ certified students have taken the LAIT I course and exam. They have found the course beneficial and found the LAIT Ie exam more difficult than the network+ exam.
What concepts are covered?
The exams are firmly based on the training courses. See the course cards for full details.
For how long is the certification valid?
At this stage, there is no expiry date on the certifications and there is no intention to introduce an expiry date. However, LINX reserve the right to introduce expiry dates in the future.
What if I fail?
Retakes are available without attendance on courses.
